I’m so excited to be writing about my couple’s photography session in Chilliwack, Cultus Lake with Kristen and Gregory! They’re that couple, in the very best way. They’re funny and cute, happy and in love. It’s just such a joy being around them and watching them interact with each other. At the time of writing this post, Kristen is about to board a plane from Vancouver to San Francisco to move in to the apartment she and Gregory share. It’s been so exciting watching their relationship develop!

This session took place at Main Beach in Cultus Lake, on Christmas Eve. You never know what to expect for weather here in Chilliwack, B.C. The clear skies and beautiful water was a welcome surprise! Sprocket, my adorable Westie, even joined them for a couple of photos. As it turns out, he’s afraid of docks, so his cameo was short and sweet.

One of the things I often hear when I’m booking couples photography sessions is, “Can you pose us? We really don’t know what to do, but we still want to look natural.” I hear you! And it’s so true. Lifestyle photography is all about capturing the genuine emotion and natural interaction between people, but sometimes when you’re in front of a camera, you don’t feel all that natural. So it’s my job to make you feel comfortable, while still giving you direction on how to help me get some beautiful, candid shots. If you’re wondering what that looks like, take a peek at the images below! As I kept saying to them, “It feels weird, but it looks GREAT!”. (And thank you, Kristen, for understanding what I meant when I said to giggle over your shoulder… it’s a tried and true move!)

Cultus Lake has so many gorgeous locations to take photos, so I’ve been spending a lot of time exploring it to find the very best ones. And don’t even get me started on Chilliwack Lake… this little area of ours is a magical wonderland! I can’t wait to show you more of my adventures in the coming weeks!
