I first met Hazel and her mama, Ashley, last December. I was holding an Instagram contest for an in-home lifestyle Christmas session with Keisha at Loving Littles Blog, and Ashley was the winner. Fate sometimes has a way of bringing the right people into your life at the right time, doesn’t it? And such was the case with Ashley. I clicked instantly with Ashley and her little family. After the session, we set up a playdate for her daughter, Hazel, to meet my daughter, Harmony. Still relatively new to the area (though I’d grown up here, I hadn’t lived here for almost twenty years), I was so grateful to meet another mom with a daughter for Harmony to play with! The girls hit it off instantly.
Born at just 23 weeks on November 7th, 2016, Hazel is 11 months older than Harmony. Weighing under a pound at birth, Hazel fought through 175 days in the NICU. Finally, when she was 175 days old, her parents were able to finally able to bring her home. Her story is an incredible testament to the strength not only she possesses, but her parents as well. If you’re interested in keeping up with Hazel’s progress and Ashley’s experience as a NICU mom, check out her Instagram here and her blog here. Ashley is witty and kind, and an amazing mother. Bonus: she posts some
March 3rd, 2019 was Hazel’s adjusted second birthday, meaning had she been born on her due date, she would turn two on that date. She and Ashley came over that day for a playdate with Harmony, and a mini photo session to celebrate the milestone. Just look how gorgeous she looks in her fairy cape and wand! The bubbles were a huge hit. I was so honoured to be able to document the day! Thank you for joining us for your adjusted birthday photography session in Chilliwack, B.C., Hazel!
